Is this the final cast of Ekta Kapoor’s version of Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham?
MUMBAI:It’s been a month that business mortgage broke the news that Ekta Kapoor next TV production is a remake of Karan Johar’s star-studded 2001 family drama Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
There has been a throng of news flooding in the media that actors such as Bijay Anand, Geetanjali Tikekar, Ritu Vij and Manraj Singh, Mrunal Jain, Abhinav Kapoor among many others have been approached to play significant roles in the show. Media reports also tout the show to be titled as Dil Hi Toh Hai and will air on Sony TV.
However, as per the latest developments, business mortgage learns that the TV czarina is on the lookout for fresher television faces.
As of what we hear, Arslan Goni, who is trying to tread his own path in this industry and made his acting debut with Jia Aur Jia opposite Kalki Koechlin and Richa Chadda has been approached to play the titular role played by Shah Rukh Khan in the film. Other names who we hear are approached are:
Bani J – For the role of Anjali enacted by Kajol
Varun Sood – To play the role of Rohan essayed by Hritik Roshan
Mazel Vyas – Younger version of Pooh played by the stunning Kareena Kapoor
Sana Saeed – Grown up Pooh/ Pooja
Ketki Dave – To play the mother of Anjali and Pooja
We also hear that the barrel-chested Rajat Tokas will play a cameo role in the show. While the film brought in a twist after the death of the father, apparently, the show will bring interweave the core story after the death of Anjali and Pooja’s brother.
We contacted Arslan, Ketki, Bani J and Mazel but they denied any such developments. Other actors who are approached remained unavailable for comment.
While all there are a number of speculations, we can only hope the Producer makes an official announcement soon!
